AZ League Conference Week 2020

Due to COVID-19, the League is cancelling our 2020 in-person conference, but during that week we will be providing some of our most popular recurring sessions to help our members stay in the loop virtually.  Below is a snapshot of the sessions that will be offered the week of August 31-September 3 for "AZ League Conference Week."

Also, be sure to keep checking our website for other training/webinar opportunities the League is offering through the summer and into the fall for our members to stay abreast and keep informed until we can meet in person again.

Schedule for 2020 AZ League Conference Week

All sessions will be free and held via Zoom Webinar

Monday, August 31, 10 am-12 pm:

Update from the League and General Session Keynote
A brief update on League activities from President and Mayor of Maricopa Christian Price followed by keynote general session speaker.

Tuesday, September 1, 10 am-12 pm:

Resolutions Committee and Annual Business Meeting
A representative from each city and town will be invited to participate in the development of the League’s Municipal Policy Statement via the Resolutions Committee process.  This process will be held via Zoom. Though only one representative from each city and town can participate as a voting member, we welcome other elected officials and staff to join the meeting to watch the process.

Directly following the resolutions process, the League will also hold our Annual Business Meeting. During this meeting we will elect members to the Executive Committee and ratify the resolutions passed at the Resolutions Committee Meeting. In addition, this year we will recognize our 2020 Service Award Recipients and new Life Member at the business meeting.

Wednesday, September 2, 10 am -11:30 am:

Legislative Update and Look Ahead
Though there was an abbreviated legislative session due the COVID-19, the spring has been very busy with federal advocacy and the summer is shaping up to be just as busy.  This session will cover the highlights from the abbreviated legislative session and the action at the Federal level, as well as what is on the horizon for the 2021 legislative session.

Thursday, September 3, 10 am-11:30 am:

Pundits Session: Reading the Tea Leaves
This will be a lively discussion from pundits on both sides of the political aisle. The conversation will focus on the current hot issues at the capitol, topics in the news and what issues are on the horizon, both the fall elections and next year’s legislative session that will have impact on cities and towns.

More information and zoom registration information will be sent to all cities and towns in July.
